Bicycling 18 Miles to Queens County Farm

Today my friend Donna and I bicycled 18 miles to the Queens County Farm where we pulled weeds from a kale patch, planted pumpkin seeds and then harvested green beans.  It was definitely an experience worth every hot moment under the burning sun–plus a lovely fresh salad, tomato and corn lunch with organic chocolate for dessert as well as purple green beans, garlic and more corn to take home.

The farm has volunteer days twice a week.  Experiencing where our food comes from and the effort it takes to grow and harvest it gives you a whole new perspective and appreciation of food.
